CONTINUOUS PASS-THROUGH

The line only earns while parts are moving.

Plate, pipe, beam and bar cleaned in one uninterrupted pass — throughput set by line speed, not by how fast anyone can load.

Line speed
0.5 – 3 m/min
Working width
600 – 2500 mm
Blast wheels
4 – 8
Finish
Sa 2.5 – Sa 3

WHAT ACTUALLY DECIDES OUTPUT

Three numbers decide what a pass-through line produces in a shift.

Line speed
0.5–3m/min
Set by how contaminated the steel is, not by how fast the line can run. Heavy mill scale needs a slower pass; clean stock does not.
Working width
600–2500mm
Specify for the widest section you will ever run, plus clearance — never for the average part. Width cannot be added later.
Wheel count
4–8wheels
How many faces get cleaned in a single pass. Too few wheels means running the part twice, which halves the line's real output.

Get one of the three wrong and the other two cannot compensate for it.

ONE PASS, SIX STAGES

What happens between infeed and primer.

Infeed conveyor with steel plate or beam entering — natural workshop light, shallow depth of field.
01

Feed

Sections enter on driven rollers at a controlled speed. How tightly they are spaced here decides whether the tunnel ever runs empty.

Close-up of rubber curtain seals at the tunnel mouth, abrasive dust visible on the surface.
02

Seal

Staged curtains and vestibules hold the abrasive inside the tunnel while the part keeps moving through them.

Blast wheel mounted on the tunnel housing, viewed from outside — or through an inspection port if safe.
03

Blast

Wheels above, below and beside the tunnel clean every face at once, throwing abrasive at 70 to 85 metres per second.

Bucket elevator or screw conveyor run alongside the machine, full height, showing scale.
04

Recover

Spent abrasive drops through the floor grating to the hopper and returns by screw conveyor and bucket elevator.

Air-wash separator unit, ideally with the inspection hatch open showing the abrasive curtain.
05

Separate

The air-wash separator strips out dust and broken media, holding the operating mix steady while the line keeps running.

Freshly blasted steel leaving the outfeed — bright cleaned surface against the darker machine.
06

Discharge

Cleaned sections leave on the outfeed conveyor at blast-grade finish, ready to go straight to primer.

Six stages, one pass, no handling in between.

WHAT EXPERIENCED PLANTS WATCH

Pass-through lines rarely fail. They quietly under-produce.

01

Line speed set once, then never revisited

Most lines are commissioned at a single speed and left there for years. Contamination changes with the supplier, the season and how long stock sat outside. A fixed speed either wastes throughput on clean steel or ships under-cleaned steel to the paint shop.

02

The tunnel spends the shift half empty

A pass-through line costs the same to run whether or not a part is inside it. Wheels, dust collector and drives all draw power regardless. Closing the gaps between parts is the cheapest throughput most plants never claim.

03

Recovery sized for the brochure, not the shift

Continuous blasting moves far more abrasive per hour than batch work. When screws, elevators or the separator are specified light, they become the real bottleneck long before the blast wheels ever do.

Operator at the line control panel — hand on the speed dial, machine out of focus behind. Portrait orientation.

None of these show up as a breakdown. They show up on the cost sheet.

SPECIFYING THE LINE

What to fix before anyone quotes.

The figures below are Rotoblast's standard build range. Every one of them is a decision that is expensive to revisit once the foundation is poured.

Working width
600 – 2500 mm
Widest section you will ever run, plus clearance.
Working height
300 – 1500 mm
Governs the tallest beam or bundle that will pass.
Line speed
0.5 – 3 m/min
Variable. Slower for heavy scale, faster for clean stock.
Blast wheels
4 – 8, direct drive
Position decides which faces clean in one pass.
Wheel motor power
11 – 30 kW each
Sets impact energy, and most of the running cost.
Abrasive velocity
70 – 85 m/s
The number the cleaning rate is actually derived from.
Typical finish
Sa 2.5 – Sa 3
Blast-cleaning grades to ISO 8501-1. Sa 2.5 leaves at least 95% of each area free of visible mill scale and rust — what most coating specifications call for.
Power supply
415 V, 3-phase, 50 Hz
Standard Indian and Gulf industrial supply.
Installation
Foundation + infeed/outfeed runs
Plan floor length early — lines need approach space.

PROCUREMENT & SUPPORT

From enquiry to a line that is running to specification.

Lines are engineered and built at our works in Faridabad, India, and supplied to manufacturers, foundries and fabrication companies in India and across the UAE.

  1. 01

    Enquiry

Send the section, the contamination and the tonnage per shift. You receive a configuration sized against those figures and a written quotation for it.

  2. 02

    Order confirmation

A confirmed manufacturing and delivery schedule is issued in writing at order confirmation, against your final agreed configuration.

  3. 03

    Installation and handover

Rotoblast engineers support installation, commissioning and machine setup, and stay with the line until it is meeting the finish your specification calls for.

Manufacturing lead time

Indicative only. Actual delivery depends on machine configuration, customisation, production scheduling, material availability and project scope. Every project receives a confirmed manufacturing and delivery schedule at order confirmation.
